The European technology magazine HiPEAC Info features our successful collaboration with Bellmer Czech.

In the latest issue of HiPEAC Info magazine — a professional journal published by the European HiPEAC project focused on cutting-edge trends in computing, processor architectures, and supercomputing in Europe — you can find an article on page 36 about the successful collaboration between the Czech National Competence Centre for HPC and the company Bellmer Czech.

This collaboration, made possible through experts from IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, enabled the company to optimize its simulations used in the development of paper machines by leveraging the computing power of the Karolina supercomputer.

The article describes in detail how combining advanced supercomputing technologies with the expert knowledge of IT4I helped Bellmer Czech find solutions to technical challenges related to airflow in paper machines. This example illustrates how the National Competence Centre for HPC supports industrial innovation through access to computational resources and expert guidance. EuroCC Czechia at ISC25 – Community Feedback Is Key for Us!

At this year’s ISC25 conference, EuroCC Czechia had the opportunity to co-organise a Birds of a Feather (BoF) session focused on training and education needs in the field of High-Performance Computing (HPC) across Europe. The session brought together over 60 participants and sparked a lively and inspiring discussion.

The session was co-organised by Karina Pešatová on behalf of EuroCC Czechia, in collaboration with colleagues from other national competence centres and initiatives, including EuroCC 2, EuroCC4SEE, and CASTIEL: Aline Melinette, Yonglei Wang, Carlos Teijeiro Barjas, Xavier Álvarez Farré, Maria-Ribera Sancho, Klemens Noga, Rachel Williamson, and Dhanya Pushpadas.

Together, we launched an international survey aimed at identifying current challenges and needs in HPC training. We have already collected nearly 1,000 responses – a big thank you to everyone who contributed! Your input is incredibly valuable and helps us better understand the community’s priorities.

📣 The survey is still open, and we welcome more contributions:

Based on the data collected, we are currently preparing a research article that will summarise the main findings and recommendations for the development of HPC training.

Thank you for being part of this important community and for helping us improve HPC education across Europe.

CZK 5 million for companies to use supercomputers – Second round of the FFPlus call

Accelerate development, increase efficiency & innovate with impact.

The FFplus project has launched the second round of calls for business experiments – short-term innovation projects designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises use supercomputing technologies (HPC) for the first time to solve specific business challenges.

Deadline for submitting proposals: August 26, 2025, at 5.00 pm.

Call objective: Real benefits of supercomputing for business

The call is aimed at enterprises that do not yet have experience with supercomputing but face technological or computationally demanding challenges that could be solved using:

  • Advanced computing (e.g., simulations, numerical modelling),
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning,
  • High-performance data analysis.

The result should be specific successful use cases of supercomputing with a measurable impact on business – acceleration of development, streamlining of production, reduction of costs, etc. This call does not cover projects focused solely on long-term research or with a predominantly academic impact.

Superpočítače - využití v praxi pro podniky, dva kolegové stojí mezi superpočítačovými clustery.

The call offers:

  • Financial support of more than CZK 5 million
  • Access to top European supercomputers
  • Cooperation with research partners and technical support
  • Increased visibility thanks to participation in the European FFplus community

Czech success story in the first round

In the first round of the call, as part of EuroCC Czechia, we supported a Czech consortium of companies in obtaining funding for a project that uses supercomputers and AI to design part of a new aircraft’s wing. This project shows that innovative Czech companies already want to solve their demanding technical tasks using supercomputers, which can help them accelerate product development and streamline production, as seen in this case.

Thinking about joining the challenge? Let us help you with your application.

Do you lack enough experience with supercomputers? Then this challenge is for you. We will be happy to connect you with experts who will advise you on designing your experiment, finding partners, and preparing your application.
