The National Competence Centre in HPC
The National Competence Centre in HPC (NCC), which was established under the auspices of the EuroCC project, is the reference and single point of contact and coordination on a national level for high-performance computing (HPC) and data analysis (HPDA). In the Czech Republic, the National Competence Centre in HPC is represented by the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center at the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
In the Czech Republic, the National Competence Centre in HPC represented by IT4Innovations aims to gather the necessary expertise to create a trans-European network of national coordination centres on topics related to HPC. The centre was created under the auspices of the EuroCC project, which was approved and financially supported by the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), and was funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the Czech Republic.
From January 2023, the project operates under the name EuroCC 2. It is funded by the Digital Europe Programme. The mission of EuroCC 2 is to continue the establishment of a network of National Competence Centres in the most efficient way, while continuing to address differences in the maturity of HPC deployment across Europe. The main task of the project is to support national centres in setting up their individual operational frameworks while accessing and making the most of the experience and expertise currently available at the national and European level. The main goal is to drive collaboration, the exchange of best practices, and knowledge at the European level, as well as to accelerate the improvement of national and thus European capabilities.
OBJECTIVE
To offer a broad portfolio of services tailored to the industry, public administration, and academia in the field of HPC. Fill the gaps in the knowledge of HPC, promote cooperation at the national and international level. Ensure an increase in the level of expertise and its adoption not only in HPC also in related fields.
MISSION
Our mission is to provide access to the knowledge and support for the use of High Performance Computing (HPC) and associated technologies such as High Performance Data Analytics (HPDA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for all stakeholders from academia, industry and public institutions.
SERVICES
Training – courses, webinars, and workshops in HPC, HPDA, AI and other relevant areas. Sharing information obtained by mapping providers and consumers of HPC in Czechia. We offer consulting services, design and implementation of pilot HPC solutions, and migrations of existing solutions.
