Automatic weed detection makes it possible to grow food without pesticides

Visionaries in sustainable and efficient agriculture joined forces with experts from a supercomputing center. These experts helped them design and train a neural network for an innovative automatic weeding machine that, thanks to machine learning, can distinguish crops from weeds on its own. It identifies unwanted plants and removes them with a laser. This makes it possible to grow food without widespread chemical spraying.

A leading prosthetics company aimed to help design a solution that would automatically predict potential defects and deformations in their products. To process large volumes of data and perform shape analysis of 3D product scans, the computing power of supercomputers was essential.
